(More) Bracket Outrage! 68 Team NCAA Tournament “Dumb Idea,” Says Mike Wilbon
Count ESPN’s Michael Wilbon among the growing movement of fans and sportswriters who think a 68 team NCAA tournament is too big.
Today on PTI, Wilbon called the embiggened bracket “the dumbest idea since the 18-game regular season in the NFL.”
Many have complained that the tournament’s day of play-in games will take away from the tournament’s (proper) opening day on Thursday, which some have long seen as the most exciting day of March Madness.
“Sometimes there is a premium when you have fewer things. One play-in game was fine! That’s all you needed,” said Wilbon. “The tournament starts on Thursday.”
