The Alabama “Disturbing Face” Guy Stops By Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

There’s a good chance you know who Jack Blankenship is by now. Maybe you don’t know him by that name – you might know him as just “Alabama face guy.” You know, this one. Well, since that initial brush with fame, he’s been spotted (making that face, of course) at a Knicks game while wearing a No. 17 jersey… and that wasn’t all he did in New York. Last night, Blankenship’s internet fame took a big step toward becoming everywhere fame, as he appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:

We have to say, we didn’t realize this guy was a big enough deal that NBC shows would start having him on. We knew the internet loved him (there’s a reason we kept posting about him, after all), but late night network TV is no joke. On the other hand, though, it makes sense that Fallon would have him on – Late Night under Fallon has tried from the beginning to cater to the younger, hipper, tech-friendly crowd (see having The Roots as the house band, for one).

As for the segment itself – Blankenship really, really likes mugging for the camera, doesn’t he? (Although we guess when that if making a certain face rocketed us to overnight fame, we’d be making it constantly too.) And it will never not amaze us the way a small in-joke between friends can blow up like this has. But when you combine the powers of the internet with the powers of Jeremy Lin, you’ve got a force that’s hard to contain. Oh, and of course Jimmy Fallon would crack up in the middle of trying to make the face.

Thanks to reader Joel for the heads up.
