Indiana’s Victor Oladipo Drains 60-Foot Buzzer Beater, Gus Johnson Loves It (Video)
Indiana beat North Carolina Central 72-56 last night. At first glance, this looks like just your everyday early-season college basketball matchup where a name team easily takes down an overmatched opponent. But not quite – aside from the fact that North Carolina Central kept it close for much of the game, the contest also had a spectacular shot…and just the right man to call it.
Time winding down in the first half. 31-24, Indiana. IU’s Victor Oladipo brings the ball up the court, realizes he has time for only a desperation heave He launches it from 60 feet. Nothing but net. Enter Gus Johnson.
Gus doesn’t even say much here, but he doesn’t need to – the enthusiasm with which he says it is (as always) more than enough. And his almost-lyrical pronunciation of “Oladipo” doesn’t hurt one bit. You add that to a patented Gus Johnson Yell Of Delight (TM) and a particularly vibrant “Ha-ha!!!!!!!!” and, well, you don’t have just another run-of-the-mill early-season college basketball game.
