Jay Bilas Refuses To Eat Crow Over VCU: Their Resume “Wasn’t Quite As Good” As Some Teams

ESPN’s Jay Bilas will never, ever admit he was wrong about VCU’s NCAA tournament selection being “indefensible.”

That much was clear when he appeared on Pardon the Interruption this afternoon, and maintained that VCU’s run in the NCAA tournament, although “staggering,” doesn’t make his original argument (that they shouldn’t be there in the first place) wrong.

“The truth is, VCU’s resume wasn’t quite as good as some of the teams that got left out,” Bilas said. “Now, reasonable minds can differ, but I don’t think that if [Selection Sunday] were held again the argument would change at all.”

To be fair to Bilas, he also praised the Rams, saying that they’ve played “extraordinarily well” in this tournament. And he was far from the only media personality to say they shouldn’t have gotten in.

But still. Although his “they still wouldn’t make it” argument would hold up impeccably in a court of law, it may rile up some VCU fans that still feel disrespected.

Here’s part of his segment on PTI, courtesy of ESPN:

lol what jay billy-ass doesn’t know is that the CAA is a tough conference…if he is talking about numbers then he is an Ass***.CAA has the top 2 rebounding teams in the country, best defensive conference, owned A10 head to head this year. Why not argue the fact that CAA teams can defend VCU while teams from other conference cannot, and then give CAA the credit for a tough conference. Virginia tech??? No they don’t even want to play ODU after it beat them 4-1 few years ago. Since then ACC has been a beauty parlor conference. Wichita state that lost to VCU @wichita is now in the finals in the NIT, and YES they beat Vtech at Vtech in the second round of NIT….

Jay Bilas was a moron. Now he’s stupider than a moron. Anybody who followed basketball with any depth at all knew what the CAA was. He simply didn’t pay attention. Signing checks, but not watching games outside of the top ten.
