Are Kentucky Basketball Fans Willing To Let Star Recruits Bang Their Wives?

University of Kentucky basketball fans are very happy right now – their team just won the national championship, and the coach who made that championship possible says he’s not going anywhere (yes, that could change, etc., etc.).

But don’t mistake that happiness for satisfaction. Kentucky fans don’t just want this championship – they want every championship. And Nerlens Noel is the type of player who could help put them right back in the hunt for a title next year. A 6-10 post player with a tremendous hi-top fade, Noel is just the kind of guy who could ease the pain of losing Anthony Davis to the NBA Draft, as the Wildcats inevitably will.

And Kentucky fans know it. Noel was recently down in New Orleans playing in the All-American Championship. Noel is considering three schools – Kentucky, Georgetown, and Syracuse. Kentucky fans know this very, very well – and wouldn’t you know it, Kentucky fans just had a pretty good reason to be in the Big Easy themselves. Some of those fans ran into Noel… and made it very clear just how much they want him to spend his college year(s) in Lexington. So clear, in fact, that Noel saw fit to document it on the blog he’s keeping for ESPN:

I literally got stopped hundreds of times and took dozens and dozens of pictures. The fans were showing me so much love out there, and I definitely have to say that most of the fans were from Kentucky.

Now, of course that had a lot to do with the fact that they were playing there, but I’m always just shocked at how dedicated Kentucky fans are. One man asked me if I wanted to take his wife home with me, ha ha. I couldn’t believe it. I was like, “Nah, I’m good,” but that’s just how insane the fans were down there. Great atmosphere.

Noel says “Ha ha.” And was the guy joking? Probably. But these are Kentucky basketball fans. You can never be too sure. And imagine this experiment: two people walk door-to-door in Lexington. One is Nerlens Noel, one is a member of the general population not noteworthy to UK fans. Both, when the door is answered by a man, request a night with that man’s significant other.

We’d bet that in this hypothetical scenario gets way more positive responses. Of course, there would be no guarantee that offering your wife to Noel would actually make him more likely to pick Kentucky, and you know the NCAA would be scrambling to explain why the practice violates some recruiting rule. But there’s only one way to find out for sure. Note to the UK sociology department: make this experiment happen.

As a woman who loves sports – I am totally appalled with this “fan” and this whole article.  “Offering your wife” – Is slavery still alive and well in Kentucky only now it is just aimed at women?

It’s about as alive and well as your sense of humor and ability to detect sarcasm.

Some people can’t take a joke huh.
