ACC Football: Where Napping In The Stands Happens

It’s no secret that while the ACC is a powerhouse conference in college basketball, its presence in college football is pretty lackluster. But this is pretty bad, even for them.

Witness the halftime shenanigans taking place in the stands during today Miami-Duke game as exhibit A of how much of an afterthought football is in the ACC.

I see not much has changed since my grad school days at Duke in the 80s. In what seemed to be an effort to boost football ticket sales, we grad students would have to buy season football tickets just to get on the waiting list for basketball tickets. That waiting list could last years. It’s been rare that there was excitement in the football stadium unless UNC was getting whipped. I got to take part in ripping down the goal post and carrying it across campus to the chapel when that happened once.
