Arizona Running Back Ka’Deem Carey Kicked Out Of Arizona-UCLA Basketball Game For Telling Cop, “Get The F— Out Of My Face”

Officers of the law often respond well to the athlete “Do you know who I am?” shtick. Don’t want to submarine The Hometown Team for The Big Game. But sometimes they’re less than receptive. When Arizona All-American running back Ka’Deem Carey attended Thursday’s Arizona-UCLA game with his cousin, Hakeem Adams-Johnson, and ran into a spot of trouble with event staff and police, he decided to give it a whirl. He did rush for 1,929 yards and score 23 touchdowns, after all.

Initially sitting “double seated and sitting on the backs of the chairs” an Arizona events staffer approach the pair and asked them to move four times. It wasn’t until a University of Arizona police officer came over that Carey and Adams-Johnson moved. As for why they were sitting there, well they claimed it was all just a case of not being able to find their seats – the sections and rows and subsections with their letters and numbers and such, it’s all very confusing. The officer then asked them produce their tickets – presumably suspecting that they were ticketless – and Carey whipped out the “Do you know who I am? I’m an All-American.” Too bad he prefaced it with a pointed obscenity.

“When the officer asked both of them for their tickets, Carey responded, ‘Get the fuck out of my face.’ He then asked, ‘Do you know who I am? I’m an All-American.’

The officer asked Carey and Adams-Johnson to accompany him outside. They agreed, but Carey approached the officer, asking what the problem was. He said that the pair did not actually have tickets, but were having problems getting them, according to the report.”

“I’m sorry, nice officer man. Can you help out a fella? No?”

“Carey then ‘got close’ to the officer, who told Carey to ‘back off.’ When Carey did not comply, the officer spoke in ‘a louder voice’ and Carey took several steps back, according to the report.

The two were eventually escorted out of the arena and Carey, as an Arizona student, was referred to the Dean of Students Office for a code of conduct violation.

You might remember that this isn’t Carey’s first brush with the law – he’s already accused of pushing his pregnant girlfriend and slamming her fingers in a door, and he recently pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct. He’ll be back in court on February 6th for a pre-trial hearing – though there’s still the looming and more terrifying threat of a school-ordered 500-word apology essay for this latest incident.
