Matt Barkley Announces He’s Staying At USC, Milks The Hell Out Of The Moment

Matt Barkley is staying at USC. The Trojan quarterback, who was projected to be a first round pick had he declared for the NFL draft, will remain in Southern California for his senior year. The announcement, which was made in front of a Christmas tree at USC’s Heritage Hall, was certainly not without drama.

By “drama,” I mean there were three or four times when it sounded like Matt Barkley was about to say “I’m going to the NFL.” I have no idea why he crafted this speech to be a roller-coaster of emotions that probably drove most Trojan fans to the brink of insanity, but, he did. Had he declared for the NFL, this would’ve gone down as one of the cruelest non-Lebron speeches ever.
