The Best College GameDay Signs Of The Weekend: Florida State vs. Oklahoma

One of the better pregame shows on television is ESPN’s College GameDay, and one of the better aspects of College GameDay is scanning the background for entertaining fan-made signs. For those of you who were still sleeping on Saturday morning, or otherwise missed this week’s batch of signs, we’ve decided to round up the five best for you. This week, GameDay visited Florida State ahead of their matchup with #1 Oklahoma.

5. Hey Stoops, Go Ahead And Pac Your Bags @TSherrill904

There are rumors circulating that the Bob-Stoops-coached Oklahoma Sooners will be leaving the Big 12 for the Pac 12. According to the New York Times, this rumor is “inching toward reality,” and even though “Pac Your Bags” is a little hokey (no Virginia Tech), extra points go to this sign for being topical.

4. Hangin’ The Landry Out To Dry

While Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones would not, in fact, be hung out to dry (he’d pass Sam Bradford on Saturday night for OU’s all-time mark in passing yards), this sign charmed us because of its simplicity.

3. Nevin Shapiro Is My Homeboy

Nevin Shapiro is a former Miami Hurricanes booster who also happens to be a large-scale criminal. Shapiro, who says he supplied numerous Miami football players with improper benefits, is a controversial figure in college football that had absolutely nothing to do with the FSU-OU game in question. Which is exactly why we liked this sign: it’s nice to be thrown a curveball every once in awhile.

2. Our Panhandle Is Bigger Than Yours

Ironic musings about your state’s geographical features? That’s a great GameDay sign, my friend. Our only qualm: Oklahoma’s panhandle is less a panhandle, more an axehandle.

1. OU Fancy Huh?

OU would go on to prove their fanciness later that night, beating the Seminoles 23-13. But that doesn’t stop this fan-made sign, which alludes to a semi-popular hip-hop song about gold-digging groupies, from being the best thing we saw in the background of GameDay’s telecast.
