“Fire Craig James”: The Best (And Worst!) College GameDay Signs Of The Weekend

One of the better pregame shows on television is ESPN’s College GameDay, and one of the better aspects of College GameDay is scanning the background for entertaining fan-made signs. For those of you who were still sleeping on Saturday morning, or otherwise missed this week’s batch of signs, we’ve decided to round up the five best for you. This week, GameDay visited Alabama ahead of the “Game of the Century.” As always, all images provided by Mocksession.

5. Les Miles, More Saban

Although Les Miles‘ Tigers would go on to defeat Nick Saban‘s Crimson Tide later that night, we liked this little ditty from a pun-minded ‘Bama fan. Simple, yet effective, and enough to crack our top 5.

4. Les Miles Was The Bagman

This could be in reference to pay-for-play whispers surrounding former LSU players. But it’s much funner to imagine Les Miles as an actual bagman, rocking a fedora and delivering sacks of ill-begotten bills to mafiosos and corrupt police captains.

3. Allegedly

Jeez, guy.

2. Fire Craig James

The growing consensus among college football fans across the country is that ESPN analyst Craig James is, well, kind of a dick. After he helped get a well-liked coach fired because he’s the worst sports dad ever, and after a colleague of his at ESPN was dismissed as an indirect result, James became a popular punching bag. Here’s a giant banner calling for his termination from ESPN, on ESPN.

1. The Naughtiest Sign Ever

Crass? Naughty? Lazy? Genius? The dirtiest sign in GameDay history was all of those things, and then some.

Worst Sign Of The Day: Who Let Their Dad Come With Them To Gameday?

The “Using Words To Spell Out Other Words” game sometimes works great (see “Naughty Nick Saban Sign”). Other times, it can come off as forced, as it did when Someone’s Dad Who Looks Like Brian Billick decided to take a crack at it.
