Rutgers RB Jawan Jamison Pressed The Right Button

Oh, this is nice. Opportunities to write about my beloved Rutgers Scarlet Knights don’t necessarily present themselves every day around here, since 1) I realize that not everyone’s sports world revolves around a middle-of-the-pack-to-solid football program in a conference constantly teetering on the brink of collapse; 2) frankly, being a Rutgers fan is an exercise in inevitable heartbreak and expecting the worst at all times, and I would never force such feelings upon you, dear reader.

So when I get a chance to write about Rutgers and it’s not about, say, Greg Schiano leaving for the NFL or the basketball team getting screwed during the Big East tournament, but about a Rutgers player actually doing something awesome? I’m going to savor that. Last night, I was watching Rutgers take on South Florida, doing my usual routine of jumping up and screaming at basically every play for three straight hours. The score was 16-13 late in the fourth quarter. I was a wreck, per usual for late in close Rutgers football games. And then… bless you, running back Jawan Jamison, because you did this:

And then that was that. South Florida even inexplicably failed to field the ball on the ensuing kickoff for good measure. Not that I could totally blame them for being demoralized after having that move put on them. That was literally video game stuff, and I don’t kno about you, fellow Rutgers fans, but it’s enough to convince me that this will finally be the year RU wins the Big East and everything is awesome! Nah, just kidding, they’ll lose a game they shouldn’t and Jamison will break down from carrying the ball 41 times last night. (See? Expecting the worst. Solid defense mechanism.) But for right now: that was pretty.
