A 2007 Interview With Jerry Sandusky, In Which He Creepily Talks About Working With Kids

Earlier today, New York City radio host Mike Francesa played a clip of a 2007 interview with the man at the center of the Penn State sex abuse scandal, Jerry Sandusky.

In case you’re just joining us, Sandusky stands accused of doing lots of horrific things to lots of children between 1994 and 2009. Those things run the gamut from inappropriate touching to outright forced sexual intercourse. They are the worst things a person can be charged with doing to a child, and, if these charges are true, Sandusky has ruined at least eight lives (and possibly more).

This interview, which, again, was done in 2007 and means Sandusky may have still been victimizing kids, was part of the local Penn State Tailgate show, and features Sandusky breaking down the current team and trading banter with the show’s host, Jed Donahue. They then segue into a discussion about Sandusky’s “Second Mile” charity for at-risk kids, which, according to the grand jury’s findings, was one of the places he preyed on his victims.

The interview was bad enough on the radio. But this clip, from the televised interview itself, might make you ill.

I wonder if he molested his own son?

Penn State is a f*cked up place.  Not only was it necessary to fire Paterno, but the entire football program should be shut down until further notice.

  • Squarebird

Not likely.  Those type cases invariably involve step-children.  No matter how much, for example, you like girls, that does not translate into attraction towards a biological daughter.

  • Anonymous

The site of this sick pedophile makes me sick to my stomach. . . wonder if he played with his 6 adopted children also. . . and the “good ole boys” system in football continues its traditions of secret activities, just like the catholic church did. . . . I hope he gets the full penalties the law can provide.  I want him to enjoy his showers with bubba and rocky in the the big house.

  • Joe

They always say that the devil will be wearing a 3 peice suite.  Seems like that is the case here (Penn State coaches uniform in this case).  Evil incarnate.   the slickness and deceptiveness of this evil man brings reminds me of the dapper “Jew Hunter” from Inglorious Basterds.

For the crimes he committed against innocent young boys, he should go out the same way Gaddhafi did…wooden stick and all.

kind of looks like a older tommy christopher

  • Scott

Yeah, I understand he has five adopted kids (?).

  • Jason

Yes, let’s screw over a bunch of innocent kids who did nothing wrong because of the horrible actions of a bunch of supposed “adults”.

Get rid of the scumbags who are guilty, replace them and let the kids who earned their scholarships play football.

  • ItsMichaelNotMike

Excellent suggestion, but that’s going to easy on him. None of that quick and dirty stuff. He needs to suffer a long time.

Solitary confinement for the balance of his life would be fine with me; that gives him plenty of time to think about the hell he is going to once he dies. He needs to be afraid, very afraid, of what’s going to happen to him once he dies.

And make no mistake, he is going to hell. I suffered sexual abuse when I was in an orphanage, until age 6. I assure you, people like Sandusky are no different than murderers. In fact, since he has taken the lives of the kids he has sodomized, he is worse than a murderer because those kids were then in a lifetime of pain and suffering.

For those of you who cannot fathom how bad this is, I suggest you reenact Sandusky’s acts in the privacy of your bathroom (that’s kind of like the shower room at Penn State), complete with a cucumber or whatever. Close your eyes and imagine you are ten years old, again, and also imagine that someone whom you looked up to is the one sodomizing you.

While you are reenacting things in the privacy of your bathroom, also imagine that there’s no one you can tell about being raped because no one is going to believe you. Take me for example, I was adopted by parents where my “new father’s” motivational method included beating me with a cowboy belt, his fist or heel of a hard rubber shoe heel. If I told him “The asst. coach at Penn State did bad things to me at the school” I would have been beaten into the floor.

Update: I just talked to a friend who works at a Los Angeles law firm. She said one of the lawyers wore a Penn State hoodie to work today, in support of JoePa and in protest to how Penn State is handling the rape cases.

Unbelievable that people support the inaction and bad acts of these people, done to protect their reputations and that of the team. I suppose morons like this lawyer in southern California will say, similar to Herman Cain supporters, “well there’s no proof that this all happened. so JoePa should be allowed to coach this week’s game and retire with dignity.”

Wow, guy is creepy as hell. Im not an eye for an eye kind of person but I hope this guy gets his in Jail. This is disgusting, and I heard that this is much more common than anyone thinks it is. Its a messed up world man, everyone thought this guy was a nice guy and a good guy at that. Football should be cancelled for the rest of the year, why would you want 80,000 pissed off people in one place. Your asking for trouble if you do.

  • ItsMichaelNotMike

As a victim of sexual and physical abuse way back, this story has paralyzed me and made me physical ill (and unable to function) since yesterday.

I would like to thank all of you who have recognized the severity of this situation, expressed support for the victims, and called for the imposition of the maximum penalties allowed by law, including to everyone who covered up the crimes, to protect the team and their reputations.

Your supportive comments help people like us who have suffered sexual abuse. Before the anonymity of the Net I was never able to talk about all this, so getting this on the table and dealing with it has been impossible.

I was lucky. I ran away from home at 17, joined the military, went to UC Berkeley and became a lawyer. I carved my own path to recovery. Many, many victims of sexual abuse don’t have the ability or opportunity to repair the damage inflicted by the Sanduskys of the world. To be sure, that’s one of the reasons people like Sandusky prey on the disadvantaged who don’t have a family they can reveal what happened to them.

That makes Sandusky even more depraved, that he would set up a supposed charitable organization (Second Mile) so he could have a personal source of children to sodomize.  And Sandusky will be burning in hell for using Penn State as a “lollipop” to entice children on to school property so he could rape them.

And make no mistake, just about everyone Penn State administration is almost equally as guilty, for being more interested in protection their turf than dealing with Sandusky and helping little children who had been sodomized by Sandusky on University grounds, buildings and property.

Anyone in here expressing support for Paterno and thinking he should be reinstated, you are just as bad as the students at Penn State rioting in support of Paterno.

  • ItsMichaelNotMike

    Thank you. I totally agree.

Suspending the football program for a year or two is the ONLY way that the University can repent. It will send a message that it “gets it,” unlike Paterno who saw nothing wrong with announcing that he would retire at the end of this season AND be there to coach the game this week.

Of course, since this is all about money (to be sure, how much does the University rely on revenues from its football program) the Board of Trustees is not going to do anything to inhibit the flow of money into the University’s coffers.

I’m sure they already see the lawsuits by the victims and the millions it will have to pay out in jury awards.  And make no mistake, the decision makers will fight the cases to trial because it is all about the money.

Penn State is a criminal organization whose primary goal, as an organization, over the last several years has been to cover up serial child rape to protect their leadership hierarchy.

I was being generous in my previous post. In reality, the entire school should probably by shut down and bulldozed into the ground.

    Sandusky must die!

  • ItsMichaelNotMike

I realize Jason that there are innocents who will suffer if Penn State does what I suggest (end the season).

But this is more serious than some men not being able to play football. IMO Penn State. The University and the entire State need to send a message to the entire nation that they get it. The “innocents,” as you describe them, need to make sacrifices in sending this message. The least they can do, as adults (and not high schools children, for example)  is cooperate in canceling the balance of the season.

Canceling the season acknowledges that the University understands this is NOT a sex abuse scandal, it is the commission of serious sexual CRIMES on those least able to protect themselves: innocent children (“innocents” the child rapist knew would remain tight-lipped about being sodomized by a 55-year-old man in the University team shower facility.)

That’s a significant distinction Jason, commission of crimes from abuse of whatever.

Sexual abuse infers that Sandusky had foundational rights,  responsibilities, and privileges (which of course he did not) and that he abused those. Why the distinction? Mainly it is that the University is far more culpable since the this centers on the commission of serious crimes and the University covering up the situation and the University sacrificing CHILDREN to protect that which was more precious to it: the football program, bank accounts, staff, coaches and its biggest institution (aka JoePa).

What a toilet Penn State must be.  What happened to the prosecutor that went missing who was investigating this crap years ago and who got rid of everything on his hard drive?   There should be some heavy investigating on that now.

  • http://profiles.google.com/cottoneyed89 Joe Lanning

If i was a father of one of these poor kids, Mr. Sandusky wouldn’t make it to trial. This scandal is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard of, and if it becomes true that this “Second Mile” foundation was pimping out these kids to wealthy donors of the University, then Penn State’s football program should be given the “Death Penalty” by the NCAA. Looking at the video, my thought is that this guy is a sociopath. Horrifyingly, i think we’ve only scratched the surface on what was really going on!

  • Jjmalone

yes koreantrevor, lets punish thousands of kids for the wrongdoing of four people. that makes a lot of fucking sense man.

  • A-MTN-DUDE

I agree this is a criminal enterprise to protect the glory and money of a bunch of cowards and criminals, If the kids whole like depends on a football program they have planned poorly. The whole school should be bulldozed into the ground.

  • A-MTN-DUDE

This is the attitude that led to the problem! How is taking away a football program punishing anyone? I think they are at school to learn, not to make money for the school by playing football and selling merchandise. These people are all monsters and need to be locked up, the program should be shut down forever.

I take issue with the author of this article (and all the other media outlets) who persist in calling rape and sodomy “forced sexual intercourse.” Let’s be accurate and dispense with mincing words. It’s the least you can do for the boys who were injured by Jerry Sandusky.

  • Ranier Mack

You could see from this video how subtle depraved people can be. Sandusky’s presentation of a modest, mild-mannered nice guy is nearly flawless. People like this don’t have blood dripping from their fangs or look like the Wolfman,. They look like Jerry Sandusky, the kindly neighbor who smiles a lot.
