While Calling The Orange Bowl, Jon Gruden Confused Michelle Obama For Lisa Salters

Tales of Jon Gruden’s all-encompassing devotion to football are legion. He wakes up daily at 3:17 a.m. to pore over film…and he’s not even a coach right now. As a Sports Illustrated cover of him once shouted, he’s obsessed. Right now, his obsession lies with his Monday Night Football gig, and the games he sometimes calls on the side. And the thing about obsessions is that they get in the way of, well, everything else. Like, say, knowing the difference between ESPN reporter Lisa Salters and the First Lady of the United States:

Well, at least Gruden provided some levity for his cohorts in the booth. And hey, as for Salters, if you’re going to be seen as interchangeable with anyone, the First Lady is a pretty good option, no?

Plus, it’s not just Gruden. One of the most famous stories about Joe Gibbs from his Redskins prime details how, at the height of the Iran-Contra affair in the 1980s, Gibbs admitted he’d never heard of Oliver North, who was at the center of the scandal. But this is on a different level. The First Lady? Gibbs would have at least known Nancy Reagan if he’d seen her, no? One would think, but who knows? These people are obsessed, after all. Plus, given the results last night for the team using the Michelle Obama sign, we’re not sure other coaches are going to start brushing up on political figures anytime soon.

Dang!  The picture fooled me as I watched the game.
    2 nice looking women, obviously.
