Miami Radio Host Fired For Tweeting $1,000 Bounty On Florida State Player

  • Rick Chandler

Former Miami Hurricane defensive lineman Dan Sileo was, until this morning, working as a radio host at 640-AM in Miami. He was reportedly fired by the station for a Twitter rant in which he offered a $1,000 bounty on a Florida State running back — yikes — which he later said was a joke.

So things are pretty crazy in Sileo’s world right now. Here’s his latest tweet:

Whoa. Good thing all of this happened after Halloween.

Sun Sentinel columnist Dave Hyde reported on Twitter that Sileo was fired. At the top of this post are his original tweets (via tomahawk Nation), which came following Miami’s 41-14 loss to Florida State on Saturday, and have since been deleted from his account. But the damage had been done, and the station was quick to react.

The photo that Sielo attached to one of the original tweets isn’t Florida State running back Devonta Freeman, by the way. Sielo got confused, and used a photo of DT Timmy Jernigan.

Now it appears that Sileo is on another Twitter rant. Most recent tweets are first:

In a Feb., 2012 interview with Bleacher Report, Sileo listed his influences as “Howard Cosell, Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh; great broadcasters who invented their own on-air styles.”

It’s not Sileo’s first brush with unemployment, of course. He was fired from another Miami-area radio station, WQAM, earlier this year. The rant below may have been a contributing factor:

Prior to that, he was suspended by the same station for this tweet: “Love Erin Andrews either naked or in a porn. Not at a sports desk.”
