NCAA Releases Statement On Master Troll Danny Sheridan That Basically Says, “This Guy’s A Real Dick”
Last week, “America’s leading sports analyst and handicapper” Danny Sheridan went on Paul Finebaum’s radio show for a much-hyped appearance wherein he would supposedly reveal the name of the money handler in the Cam Newton pay-for-play controversy. Many were skeptical he would actually do this. Sure enough, he didn’t. His reasoning for not doing so was flimsy enough that it convinced many he never had a name at all. And for the (possibly zero) people who still believe Sheridan has any worthwhile info, the NCAA, after meeting with Sheridan itself, released a statement today offering more evidence that Sheridan’s got nothing:
Danny Sheridan continues to make vague, unsubstantiated claims without backing them up with proof. Contrary to his claims of having an inside source with details on the Auburn investigation, the NCAA has not provided information to Sheridan or anyone else. As a matter of due diligence, the NCAA spoke with Sheridan this week to determine if he had any facts pertaining to the investigation. Sheridan, however, did not provide any information to the enforcement staff and certainly did not provide a name. Instead, he unsuccessfully attempted to gather information for his own use.
In other words, when you think of Danny Sheridan, think of this.
The tone of the statement caught us off guard. Maybe the NCAA releases clearly-annoyed statements like this all the time that we never hear about…or maybe Sheridan just pissed them off that much. We have no idea why Sheridan keeps acting like he has this great inside information, all the while making it harder and harder to believe he actually has that information. Even if he just feels like messing with everyone, we’re not sure why he’d want to do that, either. Whatever his motivation, though, he’s doing it well. We’re also not sure why the NCAA’s statement took the tone it did, but then again: what’s a troll without the ability to produce unnecessary anger?
