A Facebook Group Is Trying To Get A Quarter Million People To Show Up For The Penn State Home Opener

While Penn State football has lost 13 players from its roster to transfers and decommitments, many PSU fans have remained loyal to the program. In late July, a Facebook group was started, asking 250,000 to come support the Nittany Lions when they open their season at Beaver Stadium September 1.

From the event’s page:

PLEASE PASS THIS ON. On september 1st, penn state will play their first football game of the 2012 season. A lot of people have been hurt by the scandal and speculations… including the football team and the new coach. We are trying to get 250,000 people to show up to the first football game and cheer on the team from in and outside the stadium! WE ARE AWARE THIS MANY PEOPLE WON’T FIT IN THE STADIUM! If you can’t/ don’t want to buy a ticket, come and tailgate anyway and cheer the team on from OUTSIDE the stadium. please pass this on!

No matter how many fan do show up to the team’s opener, what they will see will look a little different. Penn State has already removed Joe Paterno’s statue from the grounds, and today it was announced blue ribbons to show supports for the victims of child abuse will be added to the Penn State uniforms this upcoming season.

Just one little thing: I’m not saying I’m for or against showing support to the Penn State football team, but to mention people that “have been hurt” by the scandal (and to not mention the victims specifically) doesn’t exactly make me want to hop on this bandwagon.

If you were a true blue blooded Penn State fan you would feel compelled to be there.
There is no choice.  It’s not a bandwagon.  Obviously you don’t understand what it means to be a fan.  don’t comdemn those who care about their school and have benefited from it and on its behalf.  We want to try to make ammends for the few have misrepresented us.
From your statements Im not sure you understand
