Penn State Will Renovate The Locker Room And Showers Where Sandusky Abused Victims

In a retroactively symbolic move, Penn State plans to renovate the locker room and showers where convicted felon Jerry Sandusky abused his child victims. Of course, no such construction will repair the damage Sandusky caused to multiple children, but the gesture at the very least represents their efforts to move on.

Here’s more, via The Patriot-News:

“University spokesman David La Torre said Friday that Penn State plans to remodel the football shower and locker room area as a direct result of Sandusky’s crimes. The former defensive coordinator was convicted of assaulting some of his victims in the team shower.

La Torre said renovation plans to the Lasch Football Building were drawn up shortly after Sandusky’s arrest in November. But he says Penn State can’t move forward until all legal proceedings in the case are over.”

Next up will be the statue of Paterno, most likely, and the ensuing pointless debates that will rattle on for months. Statue or not, Paterno’s reputation is tarnished and Penn State football will have a hard time recovering for many years – it’s hard to imagine parents wanting to send their children there, especially since players who consider Penn State probably have multiple offers from high-powered programs. In any case, the renovation of this building will at least eliminate every and all reminders of the terrors that went on.
