Penn State’s Students React To The NCAA’s Program-Killing Sanctions

This was the scene today inside the HUB (Penn State’s student union building) as NCAA president Mark Emmert announced the unprecedented punishments against the Nittany Lions’ football program. According to Scranton’s WNEP, there were audible gasps and more than a few tears as Emmert read the rough equivalent of a program death sentence.

For these kids, who likely grew up around parents, friends, and relatives who bled white and blue, and who themselves thought they’d be getting four years of important games at Beaver Stadium, the hurt was visible.

Awww poor students are such victims that their football team is going to not give out as many scholarships to the “student” athletes.  They are the real victims there.  No wait they aren’t.

Starting off adulthood defending and lamenting a program that enabled a child rapist to commit more crimes is probably not the best move. To those crying and feeling sorry for Penn State my advice is not to have children.

As if the pain on the abused and the dismay of its revelation wasn’t enough let’s further instill pain on the innocent by fracturing what remains.  Typical thoughtless act by the NCAA – collateral damage that will impact more lives.

The first step was done fire everyone involved.  If the NCAA is so concerned and so tough where were the safety protocols for the university to follow then (there weren’t any; the university should have known better; there are things  that are obvious – right).  If it was left up to the school to keep its students safe then by all means let the school deal with the fall out.  If the school is now deemed incabable of its own rule then dictate the new course of action – don’t take away from the innocent thinking it’s somehow going to set an example.

This is mere politics.  An oportunity to gain.  Surely some crooked mind within the NCAA thought how can we leverage this for gain.  If athletes can transfer, then let’s do it accross the board.  Taking away the wins (remember there were other innocent kids who played the game and gave it their lives best).  This is not all about football, yet with this move, you in essence have made it all about football.

    Fuck you Penn State asshole

College is for academic work, morons.  This emphasis on sports has gotten WAY out of proportion.

You’re an idiot.  CHILDREN WERE RAPED AND IT WAS COVERED UP AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS and by those most in power. It’s called PUNISHMENT for a reason, it’s not supposed to help the university or the football program. What “Innocent” people are you referring to ??? The football players?!?! If you think this punishment is too harsh and “hurts more victims” you’ve lost sight of what really matters.

Have you ever stopped to think that sports is one of those avenues that help some people to be great? I’m not even talking about money, but it’s a source of inspiration. Watching a successful team, and being a fan of that team that cheers them on, provides a sense of hope and unity for all involved. That hope can be transferred to successes in the classroom. A sense of pride is a very powerful tool. In addition, football program is a source that brings in money not only for the program itself, but other programs as well. There is a huge amount of ignorance in this matter. I’m not saying Joe Paterno is 100% innocent; however, being that he never had a chance to speak for himself we’ll never know.  As for those people who feel that sports have become more important than the academics at this extremely prestigious institution have they ever stopped to look at all the college’s successes outside of the football field? Punish those responsible and let the university begin to heal itself. Taking away wins and opportunity to play in bowl games is only going to hurt the PRESENT students and staff of the school.

On a side note, I believe professional football players are paid a healthy salary in the NFL. The top players get paid more than teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. As a society, it appears we consider sports to be important.  It appears we only have ourselves to blame for that. I agree, what Sandusky did was inexcusable and sick and should be punished as harshly as possible; but do we really need to punish the entire university for this?  So, Dferte and Pissonpaternosgrave before you start shooting your mouth off maybe you should think about that.

“That hope can be transferred to successes in the classroom.”

The key phrase here is “can be,” it hasn’t yet and very likely never will.

on a side note, it’s hilarious to watch these little Penn State faggots sitting on the floor with their overpriced sbux drinks, gasping at the tv like it’s 9/11. Get a fucking clue morons
