UConn Football Player Charged With Importing Child Porn

A disturbing story is developing in Connecticut today: Gregory McKee, a UConn football player, has been charged with importing child pornography by the state police. He’s also been charged with obscenity and promoting a minor in an obscene performance.

He’ll be arraigned today in Superior Court in Rockville.

McKee has been suspended from the football team indefinitely, UConn’s athletic department announced. He turned himself in on Wednesday, and bail has been set at $75,000.

Police received information about McKee’s possible possession and distribution of child pornography in September, and they executed a search of his dorm room in November. According to Hartford Courant, “items of evidence were seized during that search and were examined.”

McKee is a red-shirt freshman from Chicago who hasn’t played for UConn this season. Still, the arrest could not come at a worse time for the Huskies, who are playing Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Day.
