Vanderbilt Walk-On Marc Panu Receives A Scholarship, Everyone Feels Good

Monday morning is coming, which is kind of crappy, but at least we’ve got Breaking Bad and The Newsroom to ease the transition. And this video, as it turns out, which shows Vanderbilt walk-on Marc Panu receiving a scholarship from head coach James Franklin. Panu is a fourth year walk-on who plays fullback, and, apparently up until this point, was paying Vandy’s hefty tuition.

Panu has played in 19 games over the last two seasons on special teams, and was previously an all-state linebacker back in high school in Georgia.

    For
a guy who played in 19 games for Vandy it’s ridiculous that they didn’t give
him a scholarship years ago. I played D1 on scholarship and can attest
that there are a lot of scholarship football players that come in on
scholarship out of high school that never play one down. And get school paid
for all 4 years playing on the scout team…Or they just plan quit. We
would have 2-3 incoming freshman scholarship players quit within the first 2-3
    weeks.
