What Did Les Miles Eat Off The Ground During Yesterday’s LSU-Alabama Game?
I’ve already covered Les Miles‘ ballsy 4th and 1 reverse against Alabama, so let’s get to the more important stuff: namely, figuring out just what the hell Miles picked up and ate off the ground during yesterday’s game.
With 8:13 left in the 4th quarter, and LSU up 19-14, sideline cameras caught Miles bend down, pick up something, and put it in his mouth. It’s an incredibly brief moment, and one that’s akin to catching a baseball manager picking his nose. (Although, to be fair, picking your nose is a rung above “picking things up off the floor and eating them” on the social acceptability scale.). The announcers, of course, made no mention of Les’ scoop play, leaving bewildered viewers to wonder: huh?
So: what was it that Miles was chewing on?
There have been numerous theories swirling around the internet. Reddit thinks it was acid (which would certainly play to Miles’ “mad hatter” reputation). YouTube will tell you it was grass (Les Miles is apparently some type of cattle-raised football shaman). The most obvious choice? A renegade wad of chewing gum that probably went AWOL as Miles made a crazyman play call.
The internet, however, will continue to wonder, until we get a definitive answer from Miles himself.
