In Honor Of The Chris Brown-Drake Bar Fight, The 10 Best Athlete Bar Tussles

When we woke up this morning, we assume everyone else experienced the same giddy excitement when they found out about Matt Cain’s perfect game, and then was even more excited to hear about a Drake-Chris Brown bar fight that occurred last night. To make things even better, the fight apparently took place over Rihanna, Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend, and apparently Drizzy’s new interest. We don’t know how well Brown can take it, but we know he can certainly dish it!

Brown sent out this tweet later–which has since been taken down–and now there’s beef brewing.

How u party wit rich n**** that hate? Lol… Throwing bottles like girls? #shameonya!.

But that got us thinking creatively. So now, we present you with the 10 best bar fights involving athletes of all time.

1.Makin' It Rain

Adam "Pacman" Jones is perhaps the NFL's most notorious bad boy. In 2007, Jones was in a strip club "making it rain," and reportedly got physical with a stripper. Later that night, an altercation outside of that club resulted in a triple-homicide. Needless to say, Pacman often does not put himself in the best of positions.

2.And the Award Goes To...

Just hours after Aston Villa hosted its yearly awards ceremony for the team, three players got into this altercation with bouncers outside of a bar. To no one's surprise, the video features some kicking.

3.Round Two

An ugly brawl marred this year's Crosstown Shootout between Xavier and Cincinnati. But that wasn't the last fight the Bearcats would find themselves in. Players on the team would engage in an altercation with a nightclub bouncer after the team's season ended, only adding another black eye to the teams' tarnished reputation.

4.Strike Three

Allen Iverson makes the list as the only non-bar fighter. When A.I. was in high school, he got into this ugly brawl at a bowling alley, which jeopardized the junior's basketball future. Iverson was jailed, and the scrum was captured on this home video, featured on an ESPN 30 for 30 describing the controversy surrounding the incident.

5.Let's Bounce

John Terry has a reputation for getting in trouble with the law. In 2002, Terry was tried for throwing a bottle at the face of a bouncer while leaving a bar. Terry was reportedly angry he was asked to leave the bar while foreigners were entering. We just know the real JT would never do something so heinous.

6.Drama In the Paint

Javale McGee can be summed up in one sentence: Tremendous size and athleticism, but also a bit of a space cadet. In 2010, McGee reportedly got into an altercation with his Wizards' teammate Andre Blatche outside of a nightclub. While the two shared the paint area in Washington, they also apparently shared "curse words and punches" according to reports.

7.Before I Leave...

Cedric Benson has been a good NFL running back when he's on the field. His only problem has been...staying on the field. Benson has found himself in legal trouble on numerous occasions, including in 2010 when Benson hit a bouncer when leaving a bar. Employees of the bar reportedly were breaking up a fight between Benson and another patron. When they got the Bengal's running back outside, he threw a punch at one of the men. That and other charges landed Benson in jail for 20 days, a sentence he served during the middle of last season, causing him to miss one game.

8.Eye of the Tigers

In late August, right before the start of the college football season, Jordan Jefferson and Joshua Johns of LSU were arrested for playing a role in a bar fight. Images released of the victim depicted a pretty brutal beating. Both players were suspended, in what turned into one of the bigger sports stories of the summer. Things got worse for Jefferson, who put in an abysmal effort in the BCS Championship game.

9.Yeah, I Did It

Stop us if you've heard this before: Charles Barkley did something dumb, then probably said something dumber about what he did. In 1997, Barkley got into it with a man in an Orlando bar. After initially trying to ignore him, Barkley attacked the man after he threw a glass at a woman Barkley was sitting with. The Round Mound of Rebound threw the man through a plate-glass window while he was being arrested. Later, when he appeared in court, Barkley was asked if he had any regrets, and replied, "Yeah, I regret we weren't on a higher floor."

10.Hook Em' Horns

Vince Young has never quite lived up to the NFL hype he created at Texas, where he won a Heisman. Apparently, Young cherishes that experience though, because he got into this brawl at a club when someone flashed the upside down "Hook em' Horns" sign at Young, a taunt directed at Texas fans. That's all it seemingly took to set off Young, who went right after him.

Greatest athlete brawl I can remember was between Detroit Lion Alex Karras and pro-wrestler Dick the Bruiser at the old Lindell Athletic Club across from Tiger Stadium in Detroit. Rumored to have taken over 30 cops to break it up.
From a story on the Lindell AC:
Pugilistic episodes in the 1960’s involving Lion star Alex Karras and Billy Martin along with two television films brought the bar national attention.
In 1963 NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle suspended Karras and Packer Paul Hornung for gambling on games and ordered Karras to sell his one third partnership in the Lindell, claiming the bar was a haven for undesirable characters.
During his one year suspension Karras wrestled professionally. Six days prior to an Olympia Stadium bout against “Dick the Bruiser”, the two were involved in a Lindell brawl that tore up the bar and sent a handful of Detroit police officers to the hospital.
