Antonio Cromartie Says HBO Re-Shot “Kids” Interview To Make Him Look Bad

Antonio Cromartie claims that his infamous interview on Hard Knocks, you know, the one where he has trouble remembering the names of his kids because he has so many, was re-shot by the show’s director.

Cromartie claims that on the first take, he had no trouble rattling off the names and ages of his eight children. But, according to Cromartie, he was asked to do it a second time by the director, because he didn’t pause enough between names.

“Nah, I didn’t have trouble. I mean, they asked me to pause. I had nailed it the one time before, but they had to redo it and they just told me to pause between each one of [the names].”

HBO’s spokesman, however, maintains that everything you see on Hard Knocks is factual.

Ray Stallone, a spokesman for HBO, told The Post yesterday that the show’s producers and the unspecified director of the scene dispute Cromartie’s version of events.

“I spoke to the director and everyone involved, and this scene was done in one take,” Stallone said.

Stallone also forcefully insisted that, despite Cromartie’s comments, nothing about “Hard Knocks” is staged.

I’d like to believe Cromartie on this one, since immediately following the “I can’t remember my kids” interview we watched him pick up one of his daughters and take (part) of his family to a waterslide. And for all intents and purposes, he seems like a cool guy.

But I just can’t see Hard Knocks being like on of those obviously-staged MTV dating shows where a girl has to pick between the boyfriend that curses out her dad and the better looking but not-quite-as-dangerous stranger her parents handpick for her.

Why would an NFL team allow a show that’ll make their players look bad film them during training camp? So, unfortunately for Cromartie, I think his interview is the real thing.
