Apparently Reclaiming Signature Jersey Numbers Is Easier For Some NFL Players Than Others

Looks like Chad Ochocinco will be retaining his signature No. 85 after all. According to a Twitter update from Mike Reiss, the new Patriots acquisition didn’t have to pay anything for the jersey rights, as the number was given to him by tight end Aaron Hernandez as a welcome.

This random act of kindness should go a long way in facilitating team chemistry, which — if this picture is any indication — seems to be progressing quite swimmingly since Ochocino’s arrival.

Meanwhile, over in Vikings territory, Donovan McNabb had his work cut out for him reclaiming his trademark No. 5 from punter Chris Kluwe, who was more than happy to acquiesce — eventually. A video posted to Minnesota’s website shows the new teammates negotiating terms of the number exchange … on a white board, where we’re now convinced all good contract negotiations should take place.
