The Eagles’ Asante Samuel Suffered A “Lacerated Groin” Last Night, Somehow Kept Playing

We joke on here about groin hits from time to time. You’ll have to forgive us – it’s just that groin hits are the easiest things in the world to joke about. Just look at this. Or this. Or this. Don’t forget this. Plus this too. Oh, and this.

Despite all that, though, there are some groin shots even we can’t joke about, because they sound too painful. Last night, the Eagles’ Asante Samuel suffered just such a groin hit. And no one got an especially good look at the initial impact – it wasn’t immediately known exactly why he was down, just that he was in pain. But when CJ Fogler (a.k.a. @cjzero) shared the screengrab above with the world, there was no doubt left as to what part of Samuel was hurting. And when it was revealed that Samuel sustained a lacerated groin, a whole lot of people started hurting with him.

Amazingly, though, Samuel actually returned and finished the game. Or at least it sounds amazing, given the nature of the diagnosis. And while the Eagles couldn’t pull out a win, credit Samuel for going out there with an injury that sounds too painful to even exist. As an added bonus, presumably when testing out his lacerated groin to see if it was ready for the rigors of an NFL game, Samuel did this (again, by @cjzero):
