FOX Doesn’t Avoid Ben Roethlisberger’s Sexual Assault Allegations During Super Bowl

One of the dominant storyline in the lead-up to tonight’s Super Bowl was the so-called “redemption” of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. And early in the second quarter, FOX discussed Roethlisberger’s sexual assault controversy.

Roethlisberger was suspended by the NFL for four games to begin this season for violating its player conduct policy. Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault by a Georgia college student (the second time such an accusation was leveled against him in a relatively short time frame). No charges were ever filed.

The quarterback found himself in some hot water earlier in the week when it was unveiled that he went to a bar with his teammates.

Joe Buck of FOX very matter-of-factly went through the various headlines about Roethlisberger (first, that he should be traded, and, more recently, that he’s a winner, and therefore deserves our forgiveness).

Here is video of the FOX broadcast team discussing Roethlisberger’s past early in the second quarter.

Funny how Joe Buck failed to mention that Green Bay Packer Brandon Underwood is still under investigation for sexual assault, and that initially, 6 members of the team that were present when the alleged incident took place were brought in for questioning.
