Bill Cowher’s Wife, Kaye Cowher, Dies Of Skin Cancer
Kaye Cowher, wife of CBS football analyst and former coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers Bill Cowher, died yesterday from skin cancer. She was 54.
Cowher’s ties to sports weren’t only through her husband, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette. She was one of the first women from the state of North Carolina to receive an athletic scholarship, and led her team to an ACC championship. She also was a pioneer for the Women’s Professional Basketball League, where she played for the New York Stars and New Jersey Gems.
She met Bill in 1981, while he was a player for the Cleveland Browns. The Cowhers have three daughters, Meagan, Lauren, and Lindsay, all of whom grew up to be college basketball players.
