Reporters Aren’t Even Trying To Hide How Much They Hate The Tim Tebow-Mark Sanchez Storyline

Jets OTAs have begun, which means Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez have started sharing the same field. And when Tim Tebow does things, people talk about those things. So they did – including that at one point yesterday, Tebow wasn’t looking so hot.

Still, though, it was only one day – a day on which Sanchez should have been fully expected to look better, since he’s been playing in the same offense for years now, and is also generally better than Tebow at throwing footballs. Yet still, here everyone is breaking it down, despite it being just one day of many, many more to come. And some people have already had enough. One of them: Newsday reporter/noted Tom-Crean-resembler Bob Glauber. Glauber went on SportsCenter today to talk Jets, and his disdain for the Sanchez-Tebow topic shines through already:

And to that we say: good. It is insane that this is going to be a talking point every day at practice, especially when the overall story – i.e. “Sanchez was better” – is what everyone should expect to happen. The Jets’ big problem would be if Sanchez weren’t better than Tebow. Tebow showing huge improvement as a passer and legitimately threatening Sanchez’ job? That would be a big story, though again, maybe not after one day. But the hype is already getting out of hand, and maybe if enough people like Glauber openly acknowledge that, the outlets feeding the hype (like, say, the one that had Glauber on to talk) will get the hint.

Ha!  Yeah, we don’t want our sports media to resemble that of the news media, where everything is blown out of proportion.  Put an end to the madness until it is deserved.
