WATCH: Brad Childress Spices Up Boring Favre Presser With Salty Language
Brett Favre is coming back again, and man, was his “I’m coming back” press conference boring. It was so boring, in fact, that the only interesting things anyone said were uttered by Vikings coach Brad Childress and ESPN analyst Mark Schlereth.
First, Childress’s comment, because it was less appropriate for television. Favre talked about how he talked to Jim Kelly and how he can still do it and he loves the team he’s on and they can win and blah blah blah blah blah. Childress, on the other hand, recounted a conversation he apparently had with Favre where Favre told him “it’s taken [him] 19 years” to play like he did last season. Childress’ response? Well…
Fantastic. It was also interesting how the S-bomb got very little reaction from assembled reporters, save for a chuckle here and there. Maybe they were as surprised to hear it as we were.
And now, for some entertainment on the other end of the language spectrum, via Schlereth. He talked about the “intangibles” Favre brings and how much fun he has and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. It got better, however, when Schlereth got more specific about how Favre shows he’s having fun (at 3:05).
There you have it – one example of language that can barely get on TV late at night, one that might be too childlike for Nick Jr., and two things more interesting than anything Brett Favre said today. And with that, the Favre Saga of 2010 is over – and shit, I’m so excited about it I could slap someone on the hiney.
