Brandon Jacobs, On The Patriots: “We Decapitated Them. They Can’t Wear That Crown No More.”
The Patriots are handling their second Super Bowl loss in five years to the Giants quite well, all things considered.
All you hear on ESPN right now is a despondent Tom Brady giving the Giants credit, a nearly comatose Bill Belichick congratulating Tom Coughlin, a possibly-depressed Wes Welker taking the blame for a costly fourth quarter drop. It’s a team that’s dealing with tremendous disappointment — like, seriously soul-crushing crushing stuff — and yet they’re out there, answering questions.
Enter Brandon Jacobs, a walking soundbite who’s just won a world title. After extolling the virtues of his quarterback (he’s “honored” to play with Eli Manning), Jacobs was asked by ESPN’s Rachel Nichols what it means now that Giants have beaten New England twice in the Super Bowl. He didn’t mince words as he held his two sons.
“We decapitated them,” Jacobs answered. “They can’t wear that crown no more, baby. Can’t wear that crown anymore.”
Well then. Video here, via ESPN.
