Brett Favre Addresses Teammates, Wants Them To Know He’s Super Serious About Football Again
ESPN ‘s Ed Werder reports that Brett Favre had not one, but two super duper serious conversations with his teammates since returning to football (again).
One conversation was in regards to his relationship with Brad Childress, and likely was an appeal to silence the anonymous “source” that spread rumors that Favre doesn’t think highly of Chilly’s coaching abilities.
From the Werder piece:
Favre indicated that one of the points he and others stressed was that players needed to keep certain issues within the team, saying, “If something is being said in here — by whoever, it’s got to stop. It’s hard enough to win as it is. Success does crazy things. So we had a good meeting.
The other meeting was to assure everybody that he’s all in, and, you know, just wants to have some fun out there:
“I did feel — more so than last year, believe it or not — I needed them to know I’m all in,” Favre said. “Not that they didn’t know. I think they did just from me being there. And that was kind of the mantra from all of those guys: ‘We knew if we got you here, we were going to get you and you’d be all in. It was getting your [butt] here that is the problem.’
Even though writing about Favre only gives Favre what he desires most (attention), we can hold out hope that the Vikings’ 2009 season that ended with a backbreaking across-the- body-interception ends in some sort of similarly painful way.
That’s probably going a little too strong, and is unfair to Vikings fans. How about this: Favre rolls over on his injured ankle in week 3, and is sidelined for 6 weeks. During that time, Tavaris Jackson goes 5-1 with a 92 quarterback rating, and Childress decides to stick with him for the stretch run.
Wishful thinking, I know, but what better justice would there be than a silenced Brett, having absolutely no fun, on the sidelines?
