Great: Report Says Philadelphia Eagles Might Be Interested In Brett Favre

With the NFL lockout on the brink of being over, it was only a matter of time before Brett Favre return rumors popped up, and sure enough, here they are.

As opposed to the past three summers, however, the rumors don’t have him teaming up with the Minnesota Vikings to take revenge on the Green Bay Packers, but instead have him joining the Philadelphia Eagles, as a back-up to Michael Vick.

The origin of the rumor comes from WIP-AM’s Howard Eskin, who citing a source, went on Philadelphias NBC10 last night to report that it was “possible” that the Eagles would sign Favre as a back-up, thus reuniting him with former Packers coaches Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg.

And while on the surface it may appear that this is just a lazy attempt by Eskin at grabbing attention, as it is possible that Favre could sign with any of the 32 NFL teams, The Philadelphia Inquirer didn’t exactly shoot down his report that Favre could be headed to Philly, although they did note it’s not very likely.

A team source told The Inquirer that bringing Favre to Philly was a “long shot” and that a “lot of things would need to fall into place” for it happen.

So could the 41-year-old Favre really be returning to the NFL to be a back-up for the first time in 20 years? Who knows. But something tells us that this won’t be the last time that we write about him this Summer.
