America Collectively Gags: Brett Favre Return Speculation Snowballs On ESPN

Oh, come on, you knew this was going to happen at some point.

This morning, a wildly speculative article was posted on NFL.com that posed a familiar (but repackaged!) hypothetical: what if Brett Favre came back to the NFL?

The piece, which seems to acknowledge its own absurdity multiple times, says maybe/probably not/but wouldn’t it be cool if a lockout-shortened training camp caused teams with inexperienced quarterbacks like Cam Newton and Andy Dalton to go out and get Favre. The piece also refers to as a “nursemaid,” which is neither here nor there, but is totally gross.

The throwing of shit at the wall is a common practice for NFL writers during the summer, and is especially common when a lockout has pretty much put a stop to any actual football-related news. But a problem arises when that shit begins to snowball, as it did today on ESPN’s First Take.

Favre, meanwhile, told the Sun Herald during his 7-on-7 camp at Souther Miss that he’s not coming back. We know that Brett Favre’s word isn’t exactly bond on this sort of thing, and if history has shown us anything, it’s that you just can’t trust this slippery old man. But Jesus H. Christ, we really hope this doesn’t turn into an actual thing.

Don’t worry,it isn”t August yet!!!  I think he will be back, to the Vikings.  He cant stay away.  Once a diva always a diva.  I hope the Vikings realize they can do soooo much better than Favre.  It would be neat for the Packers to have some competition this year.
