Calvin Johnson Will Be Your Madden NFL 13 Cover Boy

If you’re a non-superstitious Lions fan, rejoice; if you are a superstitious Lions fan, might be time to freak the hell out: it was recently announced that Calvin Johnson will grace the cover of EA Sports’ signature gaming franchise, Madden NFL 13, beating out Cam Newton. At left, what that cover might look like.

Any superstitious freakouts would, of course, be based on the infamous supposed Madden curse that negatively impacts the cover subjects (but doesn’t really, because like all “curses,” it doesn’t exist). Us, though? We’re betting on Johnson to buck the trend, if you could even call it a trend. Johnson’s got years of production on his side, looks like he’s only getting better, and should just be hitting his prime. We’ll take Megatron over a curse any day.
