Chad Ochocinco Takes 64 Twitter Followers Out to Dinner (Video)
Chad Ochocinco combined his talents of self-promotion and Twitter usage this week. On Wednesday night, Ochocinco tweeted that he would treat the first 64 people who showed up for at 6 pm at Indianapolis’ St. Elmo’s to dinner.
Reportedly, there was a line outside by 4:30 pm and it was sold out by 5 pm. General Manager Chris Clifford and his bowtie went on ESPN’s First Take yesterday morning to discuss Ochocinco’s generosity.
Clifford said Wednesday morning he was getting numerous phone calls about his restaurant’s capacity, including one from Ochocinco himself, which they then began to work out the details. Clifford had to tell Ochocinco to tweet that the dinner was sold out so people would stop showing up.
Ochocinco was greeted with a standing ovation upon arrival, along with his “special guest” Terrell Owens.
The dinner menu had to be limited somewhat, due to the higher-than-normal volume, but Clifford made sure that everyone got to try their “world famous shrimp cocktail.” After tipping the wait staff an additional $1,000, the final bill was said to be around $8,000.
According to Ochocinco, this won’t be the last time that he treats large amounts of people to dinner.
