Internet Outrage! Chris Berman And Trent Dilfer To Call Opening Monday Night Football Game

Chris Berman has spent the last 28 years hosing Sunday NFL Countdown for ESPN, but when the 2012 season begins, Berman will try something new: the booth.

ESPN announced Wednesday that Berman and Trent Dilfer will call the opening Monday Night Football game between the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders. Boomer has entertained the masses for years with his signature “WHOOP” sounds and whatnot, but he’s one of those guys who is widely maligned on the web. Witness the mixed reaction on Twitter:

Berman has never called a game before. In preparation, he and Dilfer will call a Monday night preseason game between the Cardinals and Titans in late August. And then, it’s off to the main event for Boomer come Sept. 10. Expect some sort of Twitter Indignation Overload.

I’m just one of those weird NFL fans who just likes to watch his team. Thou as a Vikings fan in NJ I do watch the Jets and Giants on Sundays since I usually got nothing better to do.

Wonder who Dilfer had to blow to move up in the ranks so fast/doesn’t deserve it/he’s horrible.
