The Latest Evidence That Drew Brees Is An Unparalleled Motivator Of Men

Drew Brees is one of the most liked and respected players in the NFL. The first reason for that: he’s one of the best. Brees piles up numbers like few quarterbacks ever have, the latest milestone being the NFL record for passing yards in a season, which he set last night against the Atlanta Falcons. Also, his team piles up wins – they won the Super Bowl two seasons ago and have an excellent chance to do it again this year.

And more than that, people just can’t stop gushing over what a good guy he is. His teammates seem to genuinely love playing with him, and generally act like they’d do anything for the guy. And he’s fully embraced his role as a local icon in New Orleans, doing everything in his power to aid the still-recovering city.

And last night, after Marino’s record – and the Falcons – had fallen, viewers got a look at the Saints’ locker room. Coach Sean Payton said a few words to the now-division-champion Saints, and then, the floor was Brees’. And he proceeded to give us a look into why it seems everyone loves him so much. He thanked just about every person in the Saints’ organization. He showed genuine appreciation for being a part of it. There was nothing especially spectacular about it…but maybe that was the point. So much of Brees’ appeal lies in his regular-guy-ness, and it sure doesn’t seem like it’s an act. Video of the speech below.

Odd how just after talking about his balls being handled the owner’s wife just has to go get an on camera hug.
