Police Find Body Believed To Be Ed Reed’s Brother

Almost three weeks after Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed’s brother Brian went missing, a search team last night recovered a body it believes to be Brian Reed. An autopsy today should confirm the identity of the body.

Brian Reed, 28, jumped into the Mississippi River during a police chase in Louisiana on Jan. 7. After the police reportedly told Reed to put his hands behind his back, he leaped into the river. Kenner Police Lt. Wayne McInnis said the body was found less than 1/4 mile from where Reed jumped into the river.

Though difficult for Ed Reed, he played in two playoff games without knowing the fate of his brother. Now, the safety says, he can at least have some closure.

From the Associated Press:

“It’s been tough, but God is good,” he told WDSU-TV in New Orleans. “To have found our brother today brings closure, and knowing that he’s in a better place.”
