Favre Watch 2010: Deadspin Claims Brett Sent Naked Photos To Sideline Reporter (UPDATE)

It’s been quite an eventful morning in Brett Favre news. Let’s get right into it.

- Deadspin reports that Brett Favre sent former FSU cowgirl and current TV personality Jenn Sterger pictures of his dong while she was a Jets sideline reporter. Editor AJ Daulerio has apparently spent some time trying to woo Sterger into giving up the goods: creepy voicemail messages from the married quarterback and the dong photos themselves.

Whether due to scheduling mixups, or Sterger’s unwillingness to be tied to the story, he has been unable to get either from her. There is no proof that they exist. Deadspin ran the story anyway.

UPDATE: Daulerio responds to criticism of his decision to run the Sterger piece:

“I don’t think this was a story that falls under any form of ‘journalism’ whatsoever,” he writes. “This is gossip. Nasty gossip. Deadspin has been known to do that every once in a while. This is one of those times.”

- ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that Favre hasn’t made up his mind yet. This comes after news that he’s practicing with high school kids again. Important questions are asked: Did texts get sent? When will we here from the horse’s mouth? And how fluid is this situation, really?

- Minnesota wants to throw a bunch of money at Brett to make him stay. A $16 million base salary with $4 million in incentives is what’s currently on the table. According to Yahoo! Sports, “discussions between the team and Favre’s camp are expected to continue.” You mean this may turn into a long, drawn-out contract negotiation? Awesome.

- Network executives are already lining up to get Favre as an analyst if/when he retires for good. Says Fox senior vice president Lou D’Ermilio: “Any network that claims to not be interested in Favre is nuts!” Nuts, baby!

And this says volumes about Dan Fogarty, who chose to pass on crapola like this.
