Hines Ward Arrested For DUI One Week After Pittsburgh Holds Rally In His Honor

Hines Ward will undoubtedly have a tough time dancing himself out of this one.

Just a week after the city of Pittsburgh held a rally to celebrate the Steelers receiver’s victory in Dancing with the Stars, Ward was arrested for driving under the influence in DeKalb County, Ga. early this morning. TMZ was the first to report the news. Ward posted his $1,000 bail and was released.

With the NFL lockout in effect, the extent of disciplinary action (if any) that will be taken by either the league or the Steelers in Ward’s case is unknown. According to SB Nation:

The last player of Ward’s caliber cited for DUI was Braylon Edwards in September 2010; Edwards missed part of the New York Jets‘ next game as a result of the arrest.

All we can say is: so much for “once-again shining the spotlight on Pittsburgh.” We have a sneaky feeling this wasn’t exactly the kind of spotlight Mayor Luke Ravenstahl had in mind when he agreed to host a rally of questionable necessity.
