Condom Company Sends Unprotected Quarterback Free Condoms

Redskins quarterback John Beck had a rough day against the Bills on Sunday. The Redskins lost, the Beck-led offense didn’t produce a single point…oh, and Beck was sacked nine times. Well, he was sacked nine times until game tape was reviewed and it was determined he was actually sacked 10 times. Obviously it won’t be good for Beck if he keeps getting put in harm’s way every game, but at least his plight has reached enough people that condom maker NuVo is going the extra mile to make sure at least one part of Beck is protected:

NuVo Condoms sent a week supply of condoms to Beck so he can hopefully recover and won’t be left unprotected next week! Come on Redskins — you can’t let your quarterback get roughed up that badly.

D.C. Sports Bog’s Dan Steinberg called it a “cheap gimmick” (true) for “cheap publicity” (true), but added that “it’s awesome” (also true). Where we differ from Steinberg is that he says he’s never heard of NuVo. We have…because we wrote about a similar stunt they pulled when Jim Thome hit his 600th home run. Hey, it may be a cheap gimmick, but it’s an effective one. We just hope Beck doesn’t feel like a second-class citizen, since he only gets a week’s supply while the Twins were sent 600. Even for the entire team, that had to be more than a week’s worth, no?
