Last Night’s Post-Seahawks-Packers SportsCenter Was The Highest Rated SportsCenter Since 1995

Bill Hofheimer, an ESPN PR suit for Monday Night Football, the World Cup and NFL studio shows, threw out quite the interesting tweet earlier this morning. Instead of ruining the fun, we’ll just let him take it away.
If 5.0 rtg for ESPN’s post #MNF @sportscenter holds, it would be highest-rated SC (20 min or longer) since 4.7 rtg on 12/10/95.
— bill hofheimer (@bhofheimer_espn) September 25, 2012
And then he followed that up with this tweet:
For those who are curious… @sportscenter that rated a 4.7 on 12/10/95 followed Packers-Bucs Sunday Night Football gm on ESPN.
— bill hofheimer (@bhofheimer_espn) September 25, 2012
So what happened in that game, exactly? The Bucs won 13-10 in overtime. Here’s the box score, if you’re curious. Some highlights: ESPN’s Trent Dilfer was impressively underwhelming for Tampa Bay, going 23-42 for 240 yards and 2 INTs, and Bucs kicker Michael Husted nailed the game winner in overtime from 47 yards.
But in the context of the contemporary sports dialogue, what does this all mean? People enjoy watching other people be REALLY ANGRY about the replacement refs.
