Someone Found A Disembodied Head In Madden

We have something we like to do here at SportsGrid HQ: the Monday after a full slate of NFL games, we look to see if there was any weird stuff – especially crazy fan-related moments – we either missed or would never have seen during Sunday’s action. And we’ll be honest – today, we didn’t find much. Either fans at yesterday’s NFL games were very well-behaved, or no one was in the right place at the right time with a camera at the ready. (Considering the Steelers and Eagles played each other yesterday, our guess is the latter. [No offense to either fanbase, of course.])

We did find something, though. We’re not sure exactly how or why we managed to come across it, but we did nonetheless. It didn’t take place at any NFL game this weekend. It didn’t take place at any NFL game, ever, because it happened on a TV screen. What it is, though, is the creepiest video game glitch you’re likely to see today:

Now, the glitch itself here isn’t anything too out of the ordinary – camera angle gets messed up and shows the action from an angle/perspective it’s not meant to, resulting in a technical malfunction where something doesn’t look as it should. The same general thing has happened to me more times than I can count.

What has not happened to me more times than I can count: that same glitch resulting in one of the NFL’s top receivers looking like he’s wearing a terrifying mask made of some other guy’s oversized, Easter Islandesque head. But know that if you own a copy of Madden 13, you could do the same. We’re not sure why you’d want to, because look at the head again. That’s creepy. We sort of wish we never saw it to begin with. But if your nightmares haven’t been menacing enough lately, go ahead and give it a shot.
