That Guy Who Tweeted Death Threats To Mark Sanchez Wants You To Know He Didn’t Mean It

Oh, well this changes everything. You might have read yesterday about a guy who had the attention of the NFL for just about the worst possible reason: i.e. tweeting death threats to Mark Sanchez after the Jets’ Monday night loss to the Titans. Well, now the guy (who’s identifying himself as Bravee Grandcu or Brave Grancru, depending on who you ask) is speaking out. And good news: he wasn’t actually planning to kill anyone, so there’s nothing at all to worry about!
“I don’t own a gun,” said Grandcu, 25. “I was never going to shoot or kill anyone.”
So it’s settled. We can all move on and definitely be sure that Grandcu is just a normal ol’ guy with no deep-seated issues! Really, we should all be apologizing to him, because it’s everyone else’s fault this became such an issue to begin with:
“I don’t know why everyone’s making such a big deal about the death threats,” he said. “I guess it’s just because he’s Mark Sanchez and he’s famous.”
Well, when you say it like that, it makes the whole thing sound silly, doesn’t it? Who hasn’t said things in the heat of the moment like:
“KILL YO SELF TONIGHT! OR IMMA DO IT FOR YOU WEDNESDAY AT PRACTICE”
“DON’T COME TO PRACTICE WEDNESDAY I PROMISE YOU BULLETS EVERYWHERE…@Mark_Sanchez”
“SANCHEZ BETTER HAVE ARMED SECURITY AT PRACTICE !! YOU THINK IMMA SIT HERE & WATCH THIS BULLS— ??”
We’d say it’s possible that Grandcu might have unwittingly provided the answer that was eluding him simply by saying, “I don’t know why everyone’s making such a big deal about the death threats“… if we weren’t so busy feeling just terrible for him, being hounded by everyone as he’s been. It’s like he said: “It’s just a Tweet.” And really, if you face scrutiny over death threats you make to a prominent public figure in a public forum about an event being watched by millions, what will anyone ever leave you alone about?
And now that he’s gotten this tiny little not-at-all-deserving-of-criticism episode out of his system, Grandcu just wants to talk about football matters. He told the Star-Ledger (N.J.):
“I want answers from the whole Jets organization, I’m a die-hard fan.”
However, the Jets declined to comment on Grandcu’s tweeting, so we’re not sure the answers he seeks will be forthcoming, either. Man, the guy just can’t catch a break, can he?
