Michael Turner Was Arrested For DUI Hours After Monday Night Football

Just a few hours after helping his team secure a Monday Night Football win over the Broncos with 42 yards rushing on 17 carries, Falcons running back Michael Turner landed himself in Gwinnett County Jail after being arrested for driving under the influence and speeding.

He was booked in the jail just after 5 a.m., according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and was let out two hours later on $2,179 bond. Late night for Michael Turner.

Here’s his (slightly muggy) mugshot.

Turner’s Audi R8 was pulled over on I-85 while doing 97 mph in a 65 mph zone.

“The officer could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation,” Ritter said in an e-mail. “During the course of the investigation, the officer developed probable cause to charge Mr. Turner with DUI and speeding.”

The Falcons released a statement on the arrest this morning:

“We are aware of the situation involving Michael and are in the process of gathering more information. Because this is now a legal matter, the club will have no further comment at this time.”

As far as what this means for your fantasy team if you have Turner (because, if we can all just be honest for a second, that’s what you really want to know about): it’s unlikely to affect you.

Turner would probably only miss games if he’s suspended by Roger Goodell, and, as Shutdown Corner notes, the NFL commissioner usually doesn’t take disciplinary action until after the legal process plays itself out. If Marshawn Lynch’s DUI case is any barometer, that may take awhile, and it’s unlikely Turner faces a possible suspension until after this season.
