Morning Links: Basketball HoF Inductions, Mets One-Hitter, Angry Sergio Garcia

While you were sleeping, SportsGrid was up all night watching TV and searching the internet for links to help get your day started. Today, we bring you somewhat-LeBron-related notes from the Basketball Hall of Fame inductions, better news for the Mets, Sergio Garcia throwing a temper tantrum, and more.

The Basketball Hall of Fame held inductions for its Class of 2010 yesterday. LeBron was impressed, but Karl Malone and Scottie Pippen aren’t big on the Heat’s chances to eclipse the ’95-’96 Bulls’ 72 wins. Take mental notes, LeBron!

The Mets recovered nicely from the K-Rod fiasco, winning their second straight game by beating the Phillies 1-0. The Mets won on the strength of a one-hit gem from knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. The one hit that prevented the first no-hitter in the Mets’ nearly 50 years of existence? It came from…Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels. Even when the Mets win they can’t catch a break.

Sergio Garcia had a rough go of it at the first round of the PGA Championship, shooting a 78, and even with a strong second round, he might miss the cut. Perhaps he hit his nadir in the video below. (H/T Devil Ball Golf)

Finally, JaMarcus Russell. You know he’s not in such a good spot right now, and, well, so does ToysRUs. Hence, if you’d really like to, you can own a JaMarcus Russell Raiders action figure for just $3. Beware, though: there’s a choking hazard. Oh, I’ll bet there is. (H/T Darren Rovell)

Check back in with SportsGrid all day to satisfy your sports-meets-pop-culture sensibilities. And OK, fine, I wasn’t actually up all night doing this. But it was Friday night, and a guy’s gotta sleep sometime.
