NBC Confuses Its Black Quarterbacks

The Today Show had Phildaelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick on today to promote his new book and talk about everything he’s gone through since his dogfighting controversy.

We learned that he “knew how to lie with a straight face” (to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell), that he “may have become more dedicated to the deep study of dogs” than to his Falcons playbook, and that he “became better at reading dogs than reading defenses.”

But some of that was overshadowed by the fact that the sports gurus at the Today Show mistook Vick for another black Eagles quarterback while showing B-roll over his interview. (As Deadspin first pointed out, the player shown was Jerrod Johnson, who was on the Eagles’ practice squad for less than a month last year.)
