This Exists: Babies At A Hospital Nursery, Wrapped In Pittsburgh Steelers’ “Terrible Towels”

If your family is from Pittsburgh, black-and-gold blood probably runs through your veins. In this blue-collar city you’re born into being a Steelers fan—literally. At St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh, newborn babies are being wrapped in Terrible Towels during Super Bowl week, a tradition that started when the team went to the Super Bowl after the 2008 season:

If you’ve ever watched a Steelers game, you’ve probably noticed the towels turning the stands into a wavy yellow sea. Pittsburgh fans travel better than any fans in football, and they always make sure to bring the Terrible Towels.

In 20 years, when these babies complete their second decade of rooting for the Steelers, they will able to say they’ve been waving the same towels since birth. And have no doubts, they will be rooting for the Steelers.

From Yahoo Sports:

“She can choose her religion,” said Justin Eitel, father of a newborn daughter. “But she can’t choose what team she likes.”

Yep, apparently Pittsburgh residents really like football.
