Percy Harvin Collapses While Watching Vikings Practice, Taken To Hospital (UPDATE)

Unsettling news out of Minnesota Vikings practice: Percy Harvin, the NFL’s offensive rookie of the year last season, collapsed while watching the team practice today and was taken to the hospital.

UPDATE: From ESPN:

Coach Brad Childress says Harvin was able to speak, but was disoriented for a few minutes after he passed out at Thursday’s practice. Childress says Harvin may have had a migraine headache attack, and he was taken to an unspecified hospital.

Again, hopefully this episode was nothing more serious than a bad migraine, and this gives a bit more hope that it might have been just that, and the fact that he could speak at all is promising.

The rest of the original post is below.

From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

Harvin, who has suffered from severe migraines, was not on the field for the start of practice. He was seen talking to head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman outside the locker room at Winter Park and then jogged onto the field to watch practice. A few minutes later, Harvin vomited and then fell to the ground.

For all the ridiculousness surrounding the Vikings (we reveled in it too)…man, we hope this is nothing too serious. Harvin is one of the most talented players in all of football, and more than that, is only 22.

It appears Harvin knew he wasn’t well from the start today, so at least this didn’t come completely out of nowhere. Hopefully it turns out this was nothing terribly serious, but it’s never good to hear about someone being taken away in an ambulance.

Harvin’s just getting his career started, and we all want to see him reach his off-the-charts potential. We sincerely hope he can get back to doing just that, and soon.
