Pittsburgh Steelers Distance Themselves From Rashard Mendenhall’s Bin Laden Comments

Rashard Mendenhall has taken a lot of public criticism (chronicled here) for his comments on the death of Osama Bin Laden, which he posted on Twitter.

Among his most inflammatory remarks were that he doesn’t believe a plane could topple a skyscraper. Additionally, he chided those who celebrated Bin Laden’s death.

Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II, in an attempt to distance the organization from Mendenhall’s views, released a statement:

I have not spoken with Rashard, so it is hard to explain or even comprehend what he meant with his recent Twitter comments. The entire Steelers organization is very proud of the job our military personnel have done and we can only hope this leads to our troops coming home soon.

its pretty disturbing to see the level of crtitcal thinking on this board… i guess Chomsky was right when he talked about Manufactured Conscent… people have the inability to see how they have been programmed to think and act… people danced in the streets of the Middle east when the towers went down… how is what is going on in our streets any different? i know, im siding with the terrosists—— fucking laughable arguement by the way…. the fact is that the United States has been the LEADING supporter of terrorism for some time now… dont believe me, dont believe the media——– READ THE EXTENSIVE PUBLISHED DIMPLOMATIC RECORD…. Whether it was Reagan and the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS that were murdered in South America, or the tacit apporoval of our government in the “cleansing” of Indonesia (east timor),,,, the american people prove time and again that they are sheep….. we always buy the company line…. most of the comments on the board are from people who are trying to think, but the sad truth is, they are incompetent to think…. hate me all u want,, just PLEASE TURN OFF THE TELEVISIONS AND THE RADIO….. pick up a book before its too late.. all of this reaction would be funny , if it wasnt SO SAD…..
